Discovery Center
Launches It's Third Season
2008 Music 'and Movies' in the Mountains Summer Series
Discovery Center Amphitheater
The San Bernardino National Forest Association (SBNFA) and
presenting sponsor, Coldwell Banker, Mountain Gallery, Realtors,
are pleased to announce it's third season of summer concert
music at the Discovery Center Amphitheater beginning Saturday,
May 31 through August 30, 2008 featuring 6 shows, 3 new Thursday
FREE movie nights, plus the entire JazzTrax series, Friday
through Sunday. The concert series kicks off a summer celebration
of the Discovery Center's 10th anniversary with all proceeds
benefiting Forest Aid, an SBNFA series of fund raising events
to raise awareness that forest healing has begun through restoration
efforts after the October 2007 wildfires.
It's widely-known that music has great healing power and
the Discovery Center is delivering a knockout lineup of talent
in its Music and (now) Movies in the Mountains summer series.
All dollars raised will directly recruit and train additional
volunteers for the SBNFA's Great Seeds Restoration Team, help
fund the growing of native seedlings at the newly-opened Children's
Forest greenhouse and purchase much-needed supplies and safety
equipment. The Restoration Team is comprised of youth leaders
and community volunteers who are executing a very ambitious
project plan designed by US Forest Service botanists and Alison
Bates, the SBNFA program manager. Over 4,000 seedlings have
been planted this spring in the Heaps Peak area near Lake
Arrowhead.
